Education Conference 2017 Begins with Olympiad

(QNA) - Qatar National Convention Center hosted today the Education Conference 2017, which started with the second national Qatar Astronomy Olympiad. The conference will kick off officially tomorrow.
Some 344 students from 59 schools took part in this year's Olympiad. They held a number of presentations on a range of topics such as the astrolabe among many others. There was also a workshop to introduce this year's judges, which was attended by 142 students.
Six projects were already chosen to represent Qatar at an international event in Los Angeles in May, "Special Programs Manager at Qatar National Research Fund," Qatar Foundation Research & Development Dr. Abdullah Al-Kamali said today. The competition will see participants from 70 countries across the globe.
Capacity Building Director at the R&D-QF at Qatar National Research Fund Dr. Aisha Al-Obaidly said that they have a database of 700 students who presented scientific research. She added that the fund tracks the performance of those students to provide them with the necessary support.
