School Uniforms for 2017/2018 Academic Year Announced

13 June 2017

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has issued a circular related to the specifications for school uniforms for the academic year 2017-2018. The circular comes in conformity with the conduct policy described in the executive statute of Decision No. 1 of 2008 issued by His Highness the Emir with regards to school uniforms for girls.

The circular contains criteria for school, stating that the uniform must be designed according to modest Islamic dress standards (long dress, long sleeves, not transparent, does not show details of the body). The dress must be comfortable, not tight.

Accordingly, schools must provide parents with the uniform design to allow them tailor it wherever they want to. Parents are also free to buy the tissue. However, the school should not have any financial implication or interest from the project.

All schools must choose plain colors that are available at a reasonable price at the local market.

The following table sets a range of colors that a school can choose for each stage.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education stresses that all schools communicate with parents by all means available (phone call, SMS, e-mail…) and provide them with the logo of the ministry for a price not exceeding five (5) Qatari Riyals. Schools must also provide the uniform design with a sample of the tissue color while registering the new-coming students, Grade 1 students and the early education KG pupils. The ministry directs all schools to make a copy of the uniform announcement visible on the outer gate of the premises.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education reiterates that all schools should abide by the circular and should communicate the selected form to the Schools Affairs Department no later than 19 June 2017.
