​Qatar Participates in Preparatory Meetings of UNESCO General Conference

Paris: A delegation of the State of Qatar participated in the preparatory meetings of the 39th session of the General Conference of UNESCO to discuss reports by the education and communication and information committees. 

Head of the Islamic Education Department, Dr. Abdullah Al-Marri, participated in the Education Committee meeting, where they adopted the programmes and budget of the 2018-2021 period.

They also discussed UNESCO’s role in implementing the fourth sustainable development goal, implementation of 38 C/Resolution 72 concerning educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories, summary of the reports received from Member States on the measures taken to implement the 1960 Convention and Recommendation against Discrimination in Education.

Meanwhile, member of Qatar’s delegation Ms. Fatma Al-Kubaissi participated in the Social and Human Sciences committee meeting. They adopted the Draft Programme and Budget for 2018-2021.

The members also discussed a revision of the statutes of the Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Intergovernmental Council, performed a follow-up of the Sixth International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport.
