Scientific research is a priority in the State of Qatar as Qatar’s conviction is that science and development are drive progress in nations; Therefore, fostering research skills and innovation in youth is a key pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, which regards human resources to be a fundamental pillar of the country’s scientific and economic advancement.


The “Scientific Research Skills” initiative was launched in 2008 to promote scientific research. In this context, the Scientific Research Section of the Department of Curriculum and Learning Resources, oversees the National Scientific Research Competition, which is a key project that aims to provide students with a conducive scientific environment, meet their research needs, and develop their scientific and cognitive skills. In this initiative, students participate in school exhibitions in preparation for the annual National Scientific Research Week.


Below are the most prominent competitions and exhibitions in which students and teachers compete:

       ·       Primary Stage:

“Design for Change” competition.

        ·      Preparatory and Secondary Stages:

The National Competition for Scientific Research and Innovation.

        ·     Teachers:

 Action Research Competition.


There are competitions organized by stakeholders in the country, including various research institutions, such as Qatar Science Club, Qatar University Young Scientists Center, the Qur’anic Botanical Garden, Texas A&M University in robotics, and the National Committee for Traffic Safety and the Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior.


The Scientific Research Section supports schools’ participation in such competitions, and the Section, in collaboration with the relevant authorities, provides an online space that includes links and platforms to showcase students’ research and innovative activities as follows:

·       Scientific Research System for Students and Teachers:

      It is a program for uploading students’ and teachers’ research projects and relevant data, as well as information of scientific research specialists, research coordinators, supervisors, and arbitrators, the system link is:


·       The National Scientific Research and Innovation Competition Platform:

      Established in November 2020. It is an online platform and a virtual exhibition. It contains all the research projects that qualify for the finals in the National Scientific Research Competition after winning in the school exhibitions.
