The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, in partnership with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, is preparing to host the Fourth Arab Mathematics Olympiad 2024. The Olympiad will take place from Sunday, November 10, to Thursday, November 14, 2024.
The Arab Mathematics Olympiad is held every two years in one of ALECSO’s member states. It serves as an academic platform that brings together talented Arab students in mathematics to showcase their exceptional skills and abilities. The competition aims to inspire innovative ideas and creative solutions in mathematics, including geometry, number theory, algebra, and combinatorics.
The first Olympiad, held in person in Saudi Arabia in 2018, was followed by a virtual second edition hosted by Egypt in 2020 and a third virtual edition hosted by Tunisia in 2022, using audiovisual communication technologies.
Qatar’s hosting of the Olympiad reflects its commitment to unique educational programs that enhance students’ scientific proficiency and prepare them for future participation in regional and international competitions. It also aims to foster communication and positive competition among Arab students, uncover mathematical talent, and guide them toward applying their abilities in relevant practical fields.
