Higher Education in Qatar
Earning higher certificates and degrees is crucial for young students to pursue professional careers in different sectors across the country. By building on what they have learnt throughout their academic studies – particularly the university years, graduates can use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the sustainable development of their community.
In this context, Qatar provides its learners with a sophisticated educational system that boosts state-of-the-art technology and world-class curriculum. It further offers students a wide range of disciplines locally and abroad to enable them to interact with all advanced systems in the future.
Qatar spares no effort to facilitate all necessary arrangements and enable its students to continue their higher education through a wide range of privileges, including internships, scholarships, etc.
To encourage private investment in the higher education sector, the State enacted several motivational laws and funded the establishment and development of universities and colleges. The number of universities in Qatar amounted to 32 in 2020 compared with 16 in 2014. Over 39,000 students have been registered in these universities during the 2019-2020 academic year.
The higher education institutions in Qatar offers 366 educational programs for the 2020-2021 academic year, with 57% of these programs offered by Qatar University, Community College of Qatar, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
Those post-secondary institutions include 10 public institutions offering 206 academic programs, 5 military institutions offering 19 academic programs and 8 institutions affiliated with Qatar Foundation, which offer 69 academic programs. In addition, there are 9 private institutions offering 72 academic programs.
