Every year, the School Evaluation Department conducts surveys with the goal of gathering data and information on every facet of the educational process to create a clear and thorough picture of education in schools. This data is gathered in order to update the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's database on school performance, publish numerous reports and studies on school performance and education in general, perform the necessary cross-year comparisons, and measure how far schools' performance has progressed in relation to themselves. Identifying changes in schools and education generally, as well as other schools at the same level, whether they are public or private, in the State of Qatar.

The School Evaluation Department issues annual reports based on the results of these surveys from 2004–2005 until now, which include the school performance report card for all schools and kindergartens in addition to the annual education report.
